Giants Look To Gain More Momentum Thursday Night
By SBRForum.com
The New York Football Giants are back on Thursday night, and the NFL odds look to be on their side. They will be facing a Carolina Panthers team that is coming off a huge win against the disappointing New Orleans Saints, yet are favored at -1.5. They will need another huge game from Eli Manning and a defense that can contain Cam Newton to have a shot at defeating an entertaining Panthers team.
Manning, while having three interceptions against the Buccaneers on Sunday, also threw for an astounding 510 yards with three touchdowns. He had a rough start to the game, but hung in and helped his team rise to the occasion and defeat a Tampa Bay team that looks much better than people anticipated in the off season. He targeted receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz multiple times and was able to move the ball up and down the field with relative ease. The Giants will need their offense to stay this strong going into Thursday’s game, as the Panthers love to move the ball up and down the field as well.
Carolina can move the ball so effectively for a few reasons, most notably one Cam Newton. As a quarterback, he is a double threat both in the air and on the ground. He rushes like a running back but does not shy away from a long bomb for extra yards. Justin Tuck and the Giants defense will need to stay alert and pressure Newton if they wish to make sure this game does not become a barn burner. Newton is a tricky quarterback to figure out and the Giants D will certainly have their hands full on Thursday. If they do not prepare properly, Cam could make things complicated really quickly.
The Giants must be ready for anything this coming Thursday if they wish to create a winning streak going forward. The Panthers are a dangerous team on offense and will stop at nothing to go 2-1.
